Allegories
Having lived through social unrest caused by colonization and war, I search for ways to communicate subtle and crude experiences from a personal and social viewpoint using allegorical representations. I am fascinated by how metaphors and allegories facilitate the process of meaning creation from complex subjects. The body of work I have developed under the theme “Allegories” focuses on using visual representation to correlate memory with meaning creation.
My process is based on research and experimentation. Often taking references from current and historical sources, I employ the use of colour, space, geometrical composition, and symbolic subject matter to obtain evocative and provocative images. Through such a process, my work tends to have humorous yet thought-inducing results that open doors for deeper investigation.
